Effective soil management is essential for sustainable, productive farming systems. To achieve this, farmers require timely, accurate and increasingly better spatial data to manage their soils and the inherent variability.
This report details the “Optimised Carbon and Nutrient Management” project which focused on the development and application of Soli, Precision Agriculture’s soil data warehouse and analysis platform designed to enable variable rate nutrient management and soil amelioration. The project also investigated the spatial heterogeneity of soil pH and organic carbon (SOC),exploring the relationships with spatial data layers and other surface soil characteristics. Key results and insights from the development of Soli, regional benchmarking, and the SOC research are presented.
